5 Blogger Outreach Tips

Checklist Blogger Outreach is the process of reaching out to influential and authoritative bloggers, building a relationship with them and providing value to their blog, usually in return for a link, brand mention or endorsement of your product or service. You could send a blogger some unique, quality content to publish on their blog and share with their readers, or you can work with a blogger on creating some unique content together, which you can both share on social media channels. When it comes to blogger outreach, there are some do’s and dont’s that should be taken into consideration:

1) Do your homework!

Do research on the blogger before you contact them. Look to see if they are PR friendly and if they accept guest posts, reviews or giveaways. Don’t contact the blogger if it clearly states that they do not accept guest posts, as your email will be deleted straight away.

2) Be honest and polite..

Do remember to be honest when writing your email, explain exactly who you are and what you are aiming to do. Bloggers prefer you to be honest and want to know why you are a credible person. Don’t come across rude or try to trick them in any way. Bloggers have a big network of followers and blogger friends and they all talk!

3) Provide something worth having..

Do create unique, quality content that is engaging and well researched. Don’t just write about anything, there needs to be a purpose behind what you are writing about.

4) Incentivise..

Do send a free product to the blogger as an incentive to write a review. Make them feel special and explain why you’ve chosen them. Don’t offer money, bloggers take pride in their work and are likely to see this as an insult.

5) Make friends not enemies..

Do create good relationships with the bloggers so you can work with them again in the future. Don’t get angry with a blogger if they do not wish to work with you. Respect their reasons as to why they are declining your offer and do not hassle them.

Summary:

The key points to take away and to apply to your blogger outreach are: • Be polite, tell the blogger who you are, what you are aiming to do, what they will get out of working with you and how it will benefit them. • Make your email detailed so it provides them with as much information as possible. • Ensure your email subject line is enticing – this will encourage the blogger to read the email rather than delete it. • Read the blogger’s blog and refer to it your conversation. This will show them you have taken the time to see what they are interested in, resulting in a mutually beneficial working relationship.
