Q&A with Michael Legg, SEO Lead

In our latest Q&A post, we sat down for a chat with Michael, our SEO lead. We spoke to him about his career, advice for anyone looking to get into the industry and what his perfect weekend looks like.

How did you get into your industry?

I got my first taste of SEO working within gambling on an online bingo affiliate website and found it to be fascinating. This ultimately led me to join Honchō and specialise in Organic Search for a career.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working across multiple industries alongside Google’s ever-changing search algorithm means that I get to come to work and do something different every day.

What’s your favourite campaign or client you’ve worked on?

Working within the gambling and gaming section has been one of the most challenging and interesting industries I’ve worked within as it requires a more ‘outside the box’ approach.

Best achievement in your career so far?

As corny as it sounds… working within an industry I have a genuine interest in is probably my biggest achievement so far! It’s something I stumbled into after university and haven’t changed my mind since.

Any advice for anyone looking to get into a similar or the same role?

Digital Marketing is a really wide industry with tones of different career paths you could go down. Take some time to consider which aspect appeals to you and just give it a go.

What does your ideal weekend look like?

Taking the dog for a morning walk and setting myself up to watch Spurs attempt and win a game of football. Catching up with some friends down the pub or bringing home a takeaway are all fantastic options to close out the weekend.

Do you have any interesting hobbies?

Not massively – I’m a Spurs fan which means I’ve committed to being either forever hopeful or heartbroken (sometimes at the same time). Otherwise spending time with family and friends with the occasional beer suits me.
