iThinkMedia’s Top Viral Commercials: Update 2

Written by Honcho | Oct 29, 2010 11:54:55 AM
So I haven’t updated this blog for a little while and surprisingly some of the video’s I put in my last blog are still in the Top 10 Viral Video Ad Charts. But this week, there has been a surge of ad’s utilising the ever popular ‘crowd-sourcing’ technique to create unique videos, something I highlighted in my last Viral Video post. What is interesting is how such large companies are using this technique to increase their community, build their brand and boost awareness. Below I have included a few of my favourites from the top ten again and with the trend in crowd sourcing being so prominent, it is no surprise my favourite effort is from YouTube itself. (I would be worried if they were not the best at this!) But the number 1 entry on the chart is from General Electric, who are working in collaboration with Charity Water and have a campaign to engage customers for a charitable cause. They are offering a prize, but also encouraging environmental responsibility through a fun campaign whereby viewers are asked to send in their ideas for their YouTube Favourites to perform. By working in conjunction with some of the top contributors to YouTube, General Electric are working with many means of social media to promote this charitable cause. This is another growing trend for corporate companies to build their community whilst improving their profile within the public eye. Anyway, enough of that serious stuff. Take a look at some of my favourite Viral Video Ads for this week and let me know what you think. Tag Your Green! Little difficult to understand what the guy is saying sometimes, but cleverly General Electric are using a suitable ‘spokesperson’ to communicate with a specific audience to get across a serious point. YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011: Play Your Part A superb example of crowd sourcing, of which has already been successful, but used to promote their second attempt at this unique video collaboration. As ever, I would love to see any of your comments on the blog post, the videos themselves or if I am missing out any videos worth adding to the list. Otherwise, I’ll update the videos again soon.
