Transfer Deadline Day Jan 2022: All the confirmed deals

Written by Jade Halstead | Jan 31, 2022 5:14:50 PM

January is always a busy time of year for new starters at Honcho. So much so that a few years ago we did a spoof Sky Sports video to coincide with the football deadline day and announce them on our socials. It became popular, and each year we get asked if we are doing it again. Well, this year we’d like to think was our best yet!

3 days to go…

So who are the new signings?

Rebecca Weeks

We started the story by introducing our new Head of Organic Performance, Bex, and stated her job was to immediately bring in some new signings to strengthen our organic team.

With over 15 years’ experience in search marketing, Rebecca has a proven track record of delivering successful, integrated and award-winning campaigns. Her portfolio of clients spans leaders in the automotive, retail and finance sectors. Her expertise is centred around leading organic teams to deliver progressive strategies, to push the boundaries with innovation. She has been recognised by her contribution to the industry via awards and speaking opportunities.

We’re so chuffed to have signed Bex, and here’s what she has to say about the move, “It was with a heavy heart that I asked to leave MGOMD United. It was a difficult decision for me as it has been a wonderful team to play for. However, I made the decision based on my career development, and the opportunity to play at the highest level at Honcho was too big an opportunity to turn down.”

Nav Gunputh

Nav is one of our latest SEO team members, based in Birmingham he came down to the office in January and was such a good sport for getting involved and didn’t object to us dressing him up in someone else’s coat, sunglasses and a Honcho snapback to play the role of a flamboyant, self-proclaimed rap star.

Having worked client-side in digital marketing and SEO for 5 years, most recently at a law firm, Nav needed a new challenge to fully immerse himself into the fast-paced agency life, which led him to Honcho. Here’s what he had to say about joining, “ So happy to have been signed by Honcho. There’ll be a lot of fun and exciting times ahead. Can’t wait to get started!”

Sam Pettiford

Sam joined Honcho in January as Search and Insights Manager and in our story, his transfer all hinged on him passing a lateral flow test as part of his medical.

Sam has occupied technical roles in multiple industries including a successful travel company and an agency that have both seen large growth in recent years and is now focused on helping Honcho deliver value through industry-leading data interpretation.

We asked Sam for a few words following his signing, “Happy to have beaten this year’s transfer deadline and excited to be at Honcho. I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead”.

Lauren Field

We mention Lauren in the final video as a potential remote hire. Lauren actually joined the agency on deadline day and it was a bit late to include her in the videos. But in true Honcho style, we sent her a Honcho tee and hoodie to welcome her to our 40 man squad.

Lauren joins us from Aira Digital where she was a PR Content Strategist implementing new ideation techniques and producing lots of innovative campaigns. Previously, Lauren was also a Digital Content Manager at RSPB and worked on their biggest campaign, Let Nature Sing, getting bird song into the Top 40 charts.

Lauren has a love for data and using data to tell stories which is one of the key reasons why we wanted to sign her in this transfer window.

Here’s a few words from Lauren, “I am really excited to be joining Honcho United, this was a great opportunity for me. I’ve enjoyed being at Aira and progressing my skill set so it’s very bittersweet but this is a great chance for me to progress in my career and play in the big leagues”.
